John F. McCracken, PhD
Dr. John McCracken is a clinical professor of Healthcare Management at The University of Texas at Dallas in the Naveen Jindal School of Management; adjunct associate professor of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center; and founder of the Alliance for Physician Leadership, an educational partnership between The University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
John formerly served on the faculty of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, as a Wall Street investment banker and as the managing partner of a firm specializing in the turnaround management of distressed healthcare and physician organizations.
John’s healthcare experience includes having served on the boards of directors of a major hospital, physician group practice and managed care organization. For over two decades he has provided coaching and mediation services for physicians throughout the U.S. He currently serves as a coaching consultant to the Texas Medical Board.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Southern Methodist University, a Master of Science in economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a recipient of the Jindal School of Management’s Distinguished Teaching Award and the Executive MBA program’s Most Outstanding Professor Award. UT Dallas has endowed the John F. McCracken Chair in Healthcare Management at the Jindal School of Management in recognition of his service.
