Don Taylor, MHA
Don Taylor is a clinical professor of Healthcare Leadership & Management at the Jindal School of Management. He is the director of the Alliance for Physician Leadership, an educational partnership between the Jindal School and UT Southwestern Medical Center that offers a nationally recognized Healthcare Management Executive MBA for physicians.
Don is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel who served for over 27 years in various roles in healthcare operations, strategy, and leadership. He has been the CEO of hospitals and served as the COO of USAF Academic Medical Center (6,000-plus staff) in San Antonio. He also led the largest trauma hospital in Iraq in 2006 as the only non-physician commander (CEO). Recently, he served as the vice president of healthcare administration for the HHS Emergency Intake Site mission in Dallas. He also served as the director of Southwestern Health Resources integration at UT Southwestern, where he helped develop an integrated network of care with Texas Health Resources. He also teaches emerging and senior leaders at UT Southwestern on leadership, strategy, health transformation and value-based care.
As a volunteer, he founded the Air Force Association’s Wounded Airman Program and served on their National Board of Directors supporting 100,000 members. He is also past chairman of its Veteran and Retiree Council. He has also published the book, “The Quiet Heroes: Timeless Reflections of American Airman,” which shares the experience of a WWII veteran.
Don has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from UT Arlington and a Master of Health Administration from Penn State. He lives in Southlake, Texas, with his wife Judy Hoberman, who is an author, speaker and coach in the areas of gender equity, sales and leadership.
